Production desk for the University of Sussex

After visiting our stand at BVE London, the team at the University of Sussex invited MW Video to their site with a view to design technical furniture for their production gallery.

The space allocated for the gallery was tight due to the depth of the room, yet the requirement to provide a production desk suitable for up to 6 operators was still achievable. After a couple of design alterations, the final layout was agreed using our bespoke ProDesk solution.

Provisions were also made to allow the desk to be extended once rack mounted legacy equipment has been removed from the room.

Dr Holroyd, Digital Developer at University of Sussex commented “The team from MW were great. All our requirements were captured during a detailed site visit and we were able to iterate the design a number of times to make sure we had the exact desk that we required. MW also invited us to their workshop so we could acceptance test the desk and finalise the position of various mounts. Overall we are really happy with the desk, the quality and the service.”

MW Video Systems have recently supplied audio media desks for Rahaleo Recording and Film Studios in Zanzibar.  As part of a larger project undertaken by main contractors On-Air BC Systems Ltd in the United Kingdom, a brand new professional audio recording studio was completed during March and April 2015.

The client, who belongs to the Ministry of Information, Culture, Tourism and Sports, now has a professional recording studio where local musicians and bands can hire at subsidised rates in order to promote themselves.

MW Video supplied two audio media desks 2.4 metres wide for the studio. In addition, MW Video provided underdesk and undershelf rack units which were necessary to accommodate the new video recording unit (Sony HXR Pro AVCHD camcorder and Apple Final Cut ProX NLE editing software) and Avid recording studio based on AVID Pro Tools HD Native Thunderbolt + HD I/O 16×16 with an Apple iMac 27″ computer . In addition to the new furniture, acoustic panelling and carpeting was installed by On-Air BC Systems Ltd, along with a video projector and screen based on NEC M402W video projector, to create a theatre within the studios.

New production desk for ZBC studios, Tanzania

A meeting at the BVE London exhibition in 2013 with On-Air Broadcast has led to the manufacture of an 8 bay MW Video Systems production desk for  ZBC TV studios in Zanzibar and Pemba, Tanzania.  On-Air Broadcast’s Managing Director, Peter Christmas, explained “ we were looking for an 8 bay console offering practical ergonomic design while also providing something aesthetically pleasing. It was also important to offer our client, ZBC TV studios, suitable future expansion for their increasing workloads. After evaluating several manufacturers, we decided on MW Video Systems, who were extremely good in designing our console, racks and media wall with great looks to suit our needs.  They worked closely with our engineering requirements which had an overall impact with us and more importantly our client, ZBC”.

Branding Your MW Video Editing Desk

Coordinate your MW Video editing desk with your branding…

Earlier in the year, we launched our new range of laminate worktop finishes, perfect for complimenting the MW Video editing desk. Laminate is suitable for all custom and standard desk ranges. From the Polyrey range, the laminate is hardwearing, durable and suitable for labour-intensive working environments such as broadcast suites. It is an eco certified product and its’ primary component is paper.  It is surface treated with an antibacterial treatment, authorising it as a hygienic surface.

Editing desk colours

With a large range of colours and finishes held in stock, more variations can be ordered from the complete range with ease. In particular, the factory saw last week editing desks being manufactured in a  special “purple”, chosen to closely match the branding of the client.
