MW Video Systems have recently provided 5 edit desks at the University of Leeds for the School of Media and Communication department.
One 2400mm wide desk and three 1800mm wide desks from the MW Video standard product range were provided. The desks, complete with mains distribution units, are finished with black nosing and volcanic ash marmoleum worktops.
The School of Media and Communication is one of the top departments in the country for the study of communication, media and culture. With investment in new facilities needed, a specially refurbished state-of–the-art building at the heart of the Leeds campus was created. This prompted the school to look for new furniture for their new media suites. After visiting the MW Video Systems website, contact was made and the standard edit desk range proved to offer an affordable, yet high quality solution.

Last week, Neil migrated to the north of the country, visiting MW Video clients. Whilst in the area, Neil took the opportunity to look in on fellow Thinking Space colleague, Jason Gregory. After visiting Jason’s “home” office, Neil was invited along to Jason’s diving club at the local leisure centre that evening. Not only did Neil visit, he actually joined in and completed his very first try dive/scuba experience, using the full scuba gear to a depth of 12 ft.
Neil thanked Jason for his patience and excellent instruction, and as you can see from the photograph, even the Thinking Space beanie hat made an appearance underwater!

MW Video Systems are looking for a Business Development Manager who will develop new business within the UK.
This is largely a business development role to build on an existing customer base. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in selling within the AV/Broadcast industry along with an understanding of basic engineering to help develop the product range in the future.
However, full product training would be provided in house at the Romsey Headquarters in Hampshire. There will also be a requirement for regular ongoing commute to Head office and travel to clients, sites and tradeshows when necessary.
The successful candidate will ideally have strong sales experience with a proven sales history and will preferably have the following skills;
- Strong planner and excellent organisational and communication skills
- Organised and motivated professional who can build on an existing client base and manage the business development requirements of the role
- Demonstrates a commitment to professionalism and customer service

This year, Neil and Liz will be visiting the IBC exhibition once again. This premier event spans 5 days and engages professionals in the media and entertainment industry. Whilst we do not have our products being exhibited on a stand this year, Neil and Liz will be armed with product information for you to see and advice to share with you. They will be walking the halls, as well as basing themselves in coffee outlets around the venue.

After visiting our stand at BVE London, the team at the University of Sussex invited MW Video to their site with a view to design technical furniture for their production gallery.
The space allocated for the gallery was tight due to the depth of the room, yet the requirement to provide a production desk suitable for up to 6 operators was still achievable. After a couple of design alterations, the final layout was agreed using our bespoke ProDesk solution.
Provisions were also made to allow the desk to be extended once rack mounted legacy equipment has been removed from the room.
Dr Holroyd, Digital Developer at University of Sussex commented “The team from MW were great. All our requirements were captured during a detailed site visit and we were able to iterate the design a number of times to make sure we had the exact desk that we required. MW also invited us to their workshop so we could acceptance test the desk and finalise the position of various mounts. Overall we are really happy with the desk, the quality and the service.”

See MW Video Systems at stand P25, BVE London 2016
We’re back again at the popular event BVE London 2016, the UK’s largest event for professionals involved in the media and entertainment industry. The three day event commences on Tuesday 23rd February at the ExCel area, and is packed with free seminars and workshops as well as over 278 exhibitors consisting of leading manufacturers, distributors and resellers of professional production and broadcast equipment.
MW Video Systems will exhibit at BVE London 2016, at their stand P25, with their range of demonstration furniture, specially designed for the professional broadcast industry. An example of an edit desk and master control room desk will be showcased, with a range of options in colour choice, materials and finishes available, explained by our friendly sales team.
An example of parent company Thinking Space Systems’ media wall solution, the Evolution media wall will also be on display. Ideal for mounting larger flat screen monitors on a framework, the solution is ideal for studios and broadcast suites and can be powdercoated black where lighting is an issue.
Also on the stand the Novus range of monitor mounts and tablet holder suggest a further space saving features in your studio environment.
